Vodafone,Bharti, Idea join hands for telecom infrastructure in India
GSM operators Bharti group, Idea Cellular and Vodafone Essar announced the formation of new joint venture of tower business to provide infrastructure for mobile telephony to all operators.
The new company, called Indus Towers, will be rolled out in 16 telecom circles of Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Kolkata, Maharashtra, Mumbai, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Chennai, Uttar Pradesh (East and West) and West Bengal.
It will be operated and managed as a separate independent entity, offering services to all telecom operators and other wireless services providers such as broadcasters and broadband services providers.
