NTLDR Not Found Error Solution for Windows XP
Before few days, one of my friends called me up and asks for the solution of the error he was getting during booting process of his windows XP service pack 2 editions. The error was “NTLDR not found, please press any key to restart”. Being a not techy guy he was tensed and gave me a call. I did Google for this error and find a best solution for the same.
I would like to share the solution with my reader as this may help you to solve this issue without reinstalling the operating system. Here is the step by step solution to fix NTLDR missing error:
• Insert the Windows XP Bootable CD into the computer.
• When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press Any key.
• It may take few minutes to load OS files
• When you entered in Windows XP Setup Menu press the “R” key to repair Windows.
• Log into your Windows installation by pressing the “1″ key and pressing enter.
• You will ask for Administrator Password, enter that password.
• You will prompt to DOS like screen
• Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk.
In given example I have used E:/ drive as a CD-ROM drive, you can edit it according to your drive name.
copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\
After successfully copying the given file, reboot your PC and see the result. you computer will start working properly.
