Chandrayaan – 1 | Radio Contact with Spacecraft was Lost

Chandrayaan radio signal lostToday, ISRO announced that Radio contact with Chandrayaan-I spacecraft was abruptly lost at 0130 Hrs (IST) on August 29, 2009. In given news release, ISRO has confirmed the lost of spacecraft in space and said that detailed review of the telemetry data received from the spacecraft is in progress and health of the chandrayaan spacecraft is being analyzed.

Chandrayaan- I was launched from satish dhawan space center on 22nd October, 2008 and completed 312 days in orbit making more than 3400 orbits around the moon and providing large volume of data from sophisticated Terrain Mapping camera, Moon Mineralogy Mapper sensors etc…As per ISRO’s announcement, Chandrayaan has delivered lots of crucial space data to India and meeting most of the scientific objective of the mission.

As per the news released at NDTV website about India loses contact with spacecraft Chandrayaan.

NDTV’s Science Editor, Pallava Bagla, says “Chandrayaan shold not be written off. ISRO may manage to recover contact with it. But earlier this year, it faced over-heating and other technical problems. Yes, Chandrayaan is on its last legs, but it has met its objective”.
