BlackBerry Services Launched by BSNL in India

Submitted by on Friday, 20 March 2009No Comment

BlackBerry Launched By BSNLIt was surprising for me when I had seen advertisement stated that BSNL have launched blackberry services in India.

Currently, four telecom operators like Reliance Communications, Airtel, Vodafone and Tata Teleservices are providing BlackBerry services in India. Now they will have one more competitor to compete for BlackBerry market.

This step will definitely strengthen our presence in Indian telecommunication market. BSNL chairman-cum-managing director Kuldeep Goyal told that “BSNL is providing BlackBerry solutions on 3G services for the first time in India” At present, BSNL has 72 million users all over the country and “our aim is to increase this figure to 80 million by the year-end”, he said.

Telecommunications Secretary Siddhartha Behura, who launched the services, said: “We expect good response from the market, especially from the region on chandigarh” Despite the overall economic slowdown, he remained optimistic about the telecommunication segment.

“At present, there are nearly 400 million telecom connections in the country and every month 10 million new connections are being added. Last year we added around 120 million new connections,” Behura said.

A blackBerry service launched by BSNL is collaboration with Canada based company Research In Motion (RIM), they are manufacturer of the BackBerry devices.

Huge group of BSNL customers can enjoy the facilities of BlackBerry without changing their contact numbers.
