Why My Blog is redirecting?

Do you own blog hosted on blogger.com? Are you blogger from India? You must be amazed to see your blog redirecting from blogname.blogspot.com to blogname.blogspot.in !! Why the hell this is happening? This was the first question raised in my mind.

Then I checked my blog through remote servers hosted in US, UK and other countries but I did not find this redirection there!! After digging over internet I found such interesting information that answered all my queries regarding to this updates in Blogger.com. Here is my detailed explanation of this redirection which is mostly affect Indian users at present and may apply to other countries in near future.

What exactly this redirection is?

Blogger.com has implemented TLD specific redirection for the blogs hosted on blogger.com network. Currently, this change has been applied to India, so that the person access blog from Indian IP will be redirect to Indian TLD of that blog.

For example:

If you visit lifeisgoodtolive.blogspot.com from India, you will be redirected to the country specific URL like lifeisgoodtolive.blogspot.in.

Similarly if you visit any other ccTLDs from India, you will be redirected to the Indian TLD.

For example: http://blogname.blogspot.com.au (Australian TLD) will be redirected to the http://blogname.blogspot.in (Indian TLD). This way any of ccTLDs URLs you visiting from India, you will redirected to country specific TLD.

What if I want to see .com version of that blog?

If you’re unhappy with Country Specific TLD and want to stick with correct URL, you can temporarily opt-out this redirection with NCR option. An NCR stand for (No Country Redirect) is used to prevent redirection and display correct version of URL.

For example: http://lifeisgoodtolive.blogspot.com/ncr will give you the correct version of ULR without redirecting to your ccTLD, whether you are from India, Australia, Germany, Brazil or anywhere it will display correct URL, if you used NCR option in the URL.

Why Blogger.com implementing this change?

The main reason for implementing this change was to comply with local law and country wise censorship to censor the content displayed in specific countries. See brief from Google:

“By utilizing ccTLDs, content removals can be managed on a per country basis, which will limit their impact to the smallest number of readers. Content removed due to a specific country’s law will only be removed from the relevant ccTLD.”

Who will be affected from this updates?

This change will affect bloggers who use blogger.com (blogspot.com) to create their blog and readers all over the world who will see this redirection based on their country.

Now what should you do to sustain your search engine rankings and traffic?

Crawlers from different countries will have same content for different TLDs and you must be worried about duplicate content issue right? Don’t worry, as stated by Google:

The majority of content hosted on different domains will be unaffected by content removals, and therefore identical. For all such content, we will specify the blogspot.com version as the canonical version using rel=canonical. This will let crawlers know that although the URLs are different, the content is the same. When a post or blog in a country is affected by a content removal, the canonical URL will be set to that country’s ccTLD instead of the .com version. This will ensure that we aren’t marking different content with the same canonical tag.

 I have tested this for my blog and found that http://lifeisgoodtolive.blogspot.in version contains canonical tag and will help crawler to understand the original version of the blog:

 <link href=’http://lifeisgoodtolive.blogspot.com/‘ rel=’canonical‘/>

Being an online marketer I have used blogger platform before 4 years but today; I hardly use them to host my blog. This will not be a problem for you to host your blog as the change will hardly affect your website rankings and traffic.

If you are serious about your blogging activities and want to brand your blog; I strongly recommend buying domain name and host your blog on your server. Learn how to register domain and hosting for your website, it is very easy and will hardly cost you $20 per year!!

There are numerous third party platforms available for managing your Twitter account, but perhaps none is more popular than TweetDeck. With software that’s available for both your desktop or laptop computer and for mobile devices like your tablet and smartphone, TweetDeck makes it incredibly easy to manage multiple accounts with an easy to manage column format allowing for you to follow groups, individuals, and hashtags at the same time.

SmartPhones

The growth of the smartphone means that you’re never out of touch, and with a wealth of social media apps available for every time of smartphone it’s incredibly easy to manage your Twitter, Facebook, and other social media circles no matter where you are. Download the correct apps, setup your account, and you’ll soon have the same access on your mobile device as you do on your desktop or laptop computer.

Blogging Software

The proliferation of free blogging software means it’s easier than ever to start up a blog where your patients can come and get information, make comments, and even have their own access to share what they’re going through for others to comment on and provide encouragement. Blogs can be as involved as you want them to be, so depending on what direction you decide to take your counseling a blog can be integral or just one more piece of the puzzle.

Static Vs Dynamic Webpage

There are different types of terminologies being used by IT professional for categorizing the web pages based on their functionality. Technically, website is categorized in two parts one is Static web pages and the other is dynamic web pages.

What is Static Webpage?

A static web page (flat page) is a web page that is provide to the user exactly as stored content on web server.  It serve same information to all users from all context subject to modern capabilities of a web server to negotiate content-type or language of the document where such versions are available and the server is configured to do so.

How static webpage works?

As described in image; web browser (local machine) sent request to web server over HTTP who identify the URL and based on request they provide response mostly in HTML form without processing request using additional web application like Database/web script etc.

Advantages & Disadvantages of Static Web Pages:

• It require basic (HTML) web programming skills
• No particular web server hosting is required, It can run on almost any web servers like linux/widows etc…
• It can run without any additional web application or external devises.
• It is very difficult and time consuming to maintaining large number of static pages.

What Is Dynamic Webpage?

Dynamic webspage is the page which is prepared by using database or additional web applications to provide response based on particular user and their request. For example; ecommerce websites/web directories/ social media websites etc.

How Dynamic Websites Works?

As described in image, when a web server receive http/https request from local web browsers; it provide response after processing client side scripting and database driven content according to request and provide response in form of HTML, RIA (rich internet application), DHTML etc.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Dynamic Web Pages:

• It require in-depth web programming knowledge
• Require specific web servers to host web pages based website requirement which is costlier as compare to static web hosting.
• Large set of data cab me managed easily using dynamic web scripting language where you can process data with batter security and integrity.

My Worst Shopping Experience with ChinaBuye.com

Buying product from ChinaBuye.com is my worst shopping experience who yet to ship my product after 8 months. I will discuss more in details before I share how I choose chinabuye after doing lots of research over internet.

Being an online marketing professional; I prefer buying online and I always follow below steps before choosing my online vendor:

• Since how long they are into business
• Current website status and their usability
• Most important part; their reviews (search for chinabuye reviews in Google and you will find many positive reviews)
• Price comparison

Now you must be wondering how they are having average ratings of 8.7 at ResellerRatings.com ???

Let’ begin with my worst shopping experience with ChinaBuye.com

By considering their overall ratings I thought to try their service and placed 2 orders one of $1 and another of $8 on 30^th April 2011 and luckily I received $1 order in 30 days. Now I started waiting for another order for next 30 days (total 60 days) and raise a ticket on 15^th June 2011. Here is some portion of communication between me and their customer support.

They told me to wait as the product was shipped but misplaced or had some issue; by considering their request I again waited for few days and ask for updates in August 2011 (its been 5 months I placed order). Surprisingly, they asked me to order another product so that they can resend old one with new order!!! (Nice trick to trap customers for more orders).

I refused to place one more order and asked for refund but they did not refund my payment. I tried to raise dispute in Paypal but my order was already 5 months old and I could not raise the refund complain in paypal.

I tried to contact their sales personnel but the answer was same “we already shipped product and we cannot refund”. Here is my last communication by tickets on ChinaBuye.com on 10^th November 2011 (Yes 8 months but no product delivered).

I did everything that I can do to make them aware of my situation using twitter, facebook and other medium but I neither got refund nor my product.

Here there is no value of $8 but my worst chinabuye.com buying experience will definitely help you to take the decision and will save your big amount.

I did lots of research on how they are getting good reviews and faking customers online. Here are few outcomes:

• I have a doubt about reviews posted on ResellerRatings.com as when i shared my negative review, the frequency of positive review were suddenly increased !!! How? Did they got happy customers withing 2 days? or they want my review to hide under positive reviews?? This is still mystery for me . This is big question on credibility of premium review website like ResellerRatings.com.
• They own various twitter profile like @ChinaBuye, @chinabuyesale where they are attracting customers by sharing cheap promotional offers.
• They own facebook fan page named: http://www.facebook.com/ChinaBuye (cheap gadgets in the world !!! ). Very funny, Chinabuye.com – you can sell them at free of cost

I am sure many people around net got scammed from ChinaBuye.com and I really encourage you all to share your experience in comments. This will help other people to know the real scenario of ChinaBuye.com

For those of you who are not particularly tech-savvy, learning a tech skill, like Photoshop, HTML, or Java, can give you an incredible sense of accomplishment. The great thing about learning such skills is that you can easily learn for free using online tools.
